Labidostommatidae

Identification in progress. The family Labidostommatidae of prostigmatic mites is commonly found in soil, leaf litter, moss, and other terrestrial habitats. Members of this family are generally free-living predators that feed on small arthropods and other tiny invertebrates. They are characterised by a strongly sclerotised body and well-developed mouthparts. Labidostommatidae species occur worldwide and are often associated with moist microhabitats in forest floors and similar environments.
